Stem Cell (IV or Skin Injection) — PECHE Clinic, Gangnam Station

Stem Cell (IV or Skin Injection)

This is a regenerative treatment using your own blood: the blood is spun rapidly to separate it into layers (centrifugation), and only the thin middle layer is drawn off and returned to you, into the skin or a vein. That layer is called the buffy coat.

It concentrates platelets — the component that helps wounds heal — together with cells carrying a marker that identifies them as stem cells (CD34+). Most of the effect comes from the regenerative signaling substances (growth factors) the platelets release, which signal the surrounding cells to rebuild.

The blood is separated using TriCell, a single-use kit certified by Korea's MFDS and carrying the European CE mark.

▲ Once the blood is separated, platelets and regenerative components gather in the thin middle layer (the buffy coat)

When to Consider It

  • You've kept up lifting and skin boosters, and want to add another step focused on regeneration itself
  • Radiance, texture, and elasticity have all declined across your face
  • You'd rather use components from your own blood than outside ingredients
  • You want supporting care for the scalp
  • You want the components to reach many areas of the body, not just one spot on the face

If hollowed volume or deep sagging is your main concern, a different category may be the fit. We decide together which fits, based on your assessment results.

Skin Injection and IV Injection

Method How Main purpose
Skin injection Divided into micro-injections across the face and scalp Regenerating radiance, texture, and elasticity at the injected area
IV injection Infused through an arm vein, like an IV drip Supporting regenerative signals over a broad range

Cross-section of skin showing the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous fat — buffy coat components entering the dermis by skin injection and spreading between the collagen, with a small inset showing the facial areas injected

▲ Skin injection — components placed in divided doses in the dermis, the skin's inner layer beneath the epidermis, spread around that spot

IV injection isn't a method that guarantees whole-body effects — it distributes the components over a broad range through the bloodstream. Its rationale is homing: components entering the vein move toward sites of damage, following the signals those sites release.

Cross-section of the inner arm — buffy coat components spreading in the direction of blood flow from the tip of a needle in the vein

▲ IV injection — the components distribute over a broad range along the blood flow

The blood draw comes in two options: 2 kits (60cc) or 4 kits (120cc). The combination of method and draw volume is decided together after confirming your purpose, age, and health at the assessment.

How It's Done

1. Assessment and consultation A 3D MetaVu scan checks your texture, pores, fine lines, and color under each light source, and your medical history and current medications are reviewed. This sets the method (skin or IV) and the draw volume.

2. Blood draw 60cc or 120cc is drawn from an arm vein — less than a standard blood donation (320–400cc).

3. Buffy coat separation The TriCell kit is used to centrifuge the blood and separate only the buffy coat layer.

4. Injection For skin injection, numbing cream goes on first and the components are injected in divided doses across the face and scalp; if needed, a local anesthetic (lidocaine) is mixed in to manage pain. IV injection runs as a drip, so it takes longer depending on the volume.

Cell components lose activity the longer they stay outside the body. That's why the time from blood draw to the start of injection is kept within 60 minutes.

Results and Recovery

Item Details
Components and action The buffy coat from your own blood (platelets + CD34+) — growth-factor regenerative signals
Kit TriCell — MFDS (KFDA) and CE safety certified · single-use
Injection method Skin injection (face, scalp) · IV injection (drip)
When results show First noticeable radiance and finer texture from 2–4 weeks → elasticity peaks at 1–3 months
How long it lasts 6–12 months (varies with draw volume, injection method, age, and skin condition)
Sessions After the first treatment, built up at 4–6 week intervals → the timing of later treatments is decided by watching the progress
Pain The blood draw feels like a routine health-check draw · skin injection feels like an ordinary needle injection · IV injection feels like an IV drip
Pain control Skin injection: numbing cream · lidocaine mixed in when needed
Downtime Redness, slight swelling, and injection marks at skin-injection sites for 1–3 days · almost none for IV injection
Aftercare Cleansing and basic skincare from the evening of the treatment · avoid strong massage, saunas, and hard exercise for 2–3 days

This isn't a treatment that changes things immediately. Because changes follow the pace at which new collagen forms, texture changes appear from 2–4 weeks and elasticity changes at 1–3 months.

Expected Reactions and Possible Side Effects

Common, temporary reactions — part of the normal response:

  • Redness, slight swelling, and injection marks at skin-injection sites for 1–3 days; bruising can also occur

IV injection has almost no downtime.

Uncommon: because the components come from your own blood, the chance of immune rejection is low, but a fever reaction or infection can still rarely occur. If a reaction lasts longer than expected or worsens, contact us and we'll check it with you.

What We Check Beforehand

If any of these apply to you, let us know during your consultation. We postpone or adjust the timing.

  • A history of cancer diagnosis or treatment — treatment is postponed as a matter of medical principle (a family history alone is fine). The stem cells and blood growth factors this treatment uses strongly support cell multiplication and new blood vessel formation. There is a theoretical possibility of also stimulating cancer cells that may remain in very small numbers or lie dormant in the body, so we put safety first and postpone
  • An active infection — we proceed after recovery
  • Pregnancy
  • A condition where bleeding is slow to stop, or taking anticoagulants or aspirin — draw and injection marks can linger, so we set the timing together

How PECHE Clinic Does It

We keep it within 60 minutes from blood draw to the start of injection. With treatments using your own blood, the longer the cells stay outside the body, the more their activity drops. Draw, separation, and injection run as one continuous flow, and injection starts within 60 minutes.

You can confirm the kit is new. The TriCell kit is single-use. Before the treatment, we let you know how you can confirm that a new kit is being used and see the preparation process.

The prep room is behind a glass wall, in full view. How your own blood is processed is the core of trust in this treatment — so you can see the preparation and hygiene routine through the glass wall from the waiting area.

We plan from measured values. The 3D MetaVu scan checks your texture, pores, fine lines, and color under each light source, and the method and areas are decided together while looking at the screen.

We recommend only what's needed. We tell you first that this isn't a treatment with visible results right after, that how much you notice varies with age and skin condition, and when it should be postponed. We don't push same-day payment or packages — you're welcome to come in just for a consultation.

Pricing

The cost depends on the draw volume (2 kits or 4 kits) and the injection method (skin or IV). We set the configuration that fits your purpose after the assessment, then give you a quote.

FAQ

Q1. Who performs the treatment? A: PECHE physicians who all work to the same standards, built from over 90,000 documented treatments. Draw, separation, and injection run as one continuous flow, so even if your physician changes, the same process standard — injection starting within 60 minutes — applies.

Q2. Will I have skin injection or IV injection? A: If the goal is regenerating a specific area of the face or scalp, we consider skin injection; if it's supporting regenerative signals over a broad range, IV injection. We decide together after confirming your purpose, age, and health at the assessment.

Q3. How can I confirm the kit is new? A: The TriCell kit is single-use, so a new kit is used for every treatment, and before the treatment we let you know how you can confirm it's new and see the preparation. The prep room is also visible through the glass wall facing the waiting area, so you can watch the processing.

Q4. Isn't drawing blood hard on the body? A: The draw is 60–120cc, less than a blood donation (320–400cc), so a healthy adult recovers the same day without difficulty. Anything that could make a draw harder on you, such as medications you take, is checked first at the consultation.

Q5. Can I just have a consultation and decide later? A: Yes. You're welcome to have just the assessment and consultation, then leave. Decide after hearing the measured results, the expected changes, and what this treatment won't resolve. We don't push extra sessions or ask for same-day payment at the consultation.
