Clarity II Women's Hair Removal — PECHE Clinic, Gangnam Station

Clarity II Women's Hair Removal

Clarity II is a hair removal laser with two wavelengths — 755nm and 1064nm — in one device. The pigment (melanin) in dark hair absorbs the light and turns it to heat; carried down the hair to the follicle's root, that heat seals the cells that make the hair. The two wavelengths differ in how deep they reach and which skin tones they suit, so the choice follows the area and your tone.

What often troubles women's facial hair removal is fine, faint vellus hair. Fine hairs hold little pigment, and the little heat they take cools quickly — but shortening the pulse to a thousandth of a second (1ms) loads the energy before the heat escapes, which is why it's used even on this fine hair.

Side-by-side cross-sections of a fine hair's follicle and a thick hair's follicle — the fine follicle is shallow and faintly colored with little heat at its root, while the thick follicle is deep and dark with heat gathering deeper down

When to Consider It

  • Your facial hair is so fine and faint you wonder if laser removal will even work
  • Makeup catching on fine facial hair and looking patchy bothers you
  • You want underarms, arms, and legs managed without shaving
  • Repeated shaving and waxing keep causing irritation and darkening
  • Redness or skin tone concerns you as well, and you'd like them addressed on the same device
  • You want facial hair cleared first, ahead of another skin treatment like lifting

Treatment Range

Women's configurations Areas
Face & neck Upper lip · cheeks · jawline · sideburns · forehead · neck, and more
Body Underarms · arms · legs · back · bikini line, and more

For each area, the approach is decided together at the consultation, based on your hair's condition.

Why It Works on Fine, Faint Hair

Feature What it does Why fine hair needs it
1ms short pulse Cuts the firing time to a thousandth of a second Loads energy into fine hairs that hold little pigment and lose heat fast
Auto-overlap The handpiece reads how far it has moved and overlaps each pass by about 18% Fine hairs are hard to see one by one, so skipped patches happen easily — this narrows that gap
Real-time surface temperature Measures the skin's surface temperature during treatment and shows it on screen Facial skin is thin, so how warm the surface is getting appears right on the screen

Conversely, for hair that grows thick and deep under hormonal influence — upper lip, chin, bikini line — a different device we run, which fires a wider spot with more energy, may be the better fit. This isn't about one being better — they target different hair.

Cross-section of skin as the handpiece rolls across it — two treated patches overlapping slightly as they connect, with heat gathering at the follicle roots beneath each

▲ Each pass overlaps the last by about 18%, reducing the chance of patches skipped in between

How It's Done

1. Consultation and skin check Hair thickness and color, skin tone, and recent tanning are checked — this sets the wavelength (755 or 1064nm), pulse length, and energy.

2. Pre-treatment prep Shave the area short 1–2 days before. The laser targets the dark hair left inside the follicle, so avoid plucking methods between sessions.

3. Numbing cream Sensitive facial areas — upper lip, cheeks, jawline — get numbing cream for about 10 minutes first. Body areas usually proceed without numbing.

4. Treatment On broad areas, the handpiece rolls across the skin as it fires (IntelliTrak). A burst of cooling gas (cryogen) chills the surface at every pulse.

5. Soothing and guidance After soothing, we go over sun protection and other care.

Results and Recovery

Item Details
How it works The pigment (melanin) in dark hair absorbs the laser → heat gathers at the follicle root and seals it · acts only on follicles in their growth phase (anagen)
Wavelengths 755nm (lighter skin, shallow follicles) · 1064nm (darker skin, deep follicles) — chosen by area and tone
Spot size The firing diameter is adjusted between 2 and 25mm to suit the area
When results show Hairs from sealed follicles shed over 1–2 weeks, with each session reducing that area's hair by about 10–25%
Sessions Generally 6–12 sessions in total, 4–6 weeks apart
Interval by area Face about 4 weeks · underarms 4–6 weeks · back about 6 weeks · arms and legs 6–8 weeks
Maintenance Once every 1–2 years after the course
Pain A jolt of heat reaching follicle depth — strongest on the jawline and upper lip, moderate on underarms, light on outer arms and legs
Pain control Face: numbing cream for about 10 minutes, plus cryogen gas cooling at every pulse · tell us how it feels mid-session and we adjust within the safe range
Downtime On the face, redness and slight swelling may last 1–2 hours right after, mostly settling on their own · back to routine the next day · skip saunas, hard exercise, and strong sun for 24 hours

The laser acts only on follicles currently growing, and at any point only about 10–20% of all hairs are growing — which is why sessions continue in rounds. Fine vellus hair holds less pigment, so it can take more sessions than thick hair.

If another laser treatment on your face is coming up, it's better to do facial hair removal 1–2 weeks beforehand. Dark fine hairs left on the skin absorb that treatment's light first, costing it energy.

Expected Reactions and Possible Side Effects

Common, temporary reactions — part of the normal response:

  • On the face, redness and slight swelling for 1–2 hours, mostly settling on their own
  • Hairs from sealed follicles shedding over the following 1–2 weeks — part of the intended course

Anything beyond this is uncommon. If a reaction lasts longer than expected or worsens, contact us and we'll check it with you.

What We Check Beforehand

If any of these apply, tell us at the consultation. We delay the timing or skip just that spot.

  • White or very light hairs — with no pigment to target, they don't respond
  • Recent strong sun exposure or tanning — we delay until the pigment settles
  • Active acne or wounds on the face — we start after they calm
  • A keloid tendency (scars that heal raised)
  • Medications that increase light sensitivity (such as some antibiotics and diuretics)
  • Brow tattoos or semi-permanent eyeliner — heat concentrates in the ink, so that spot is skipped and only its surroundings treated
  • Waxing, tweezing, or depilatory cream between sessions — the dark hair inside the follicle disappears and the next session weakens (shaving is fine)

How PECHE Clinic Does It

We treat by standards built from over 90,000 treatments. Even on one person, fine facial hair and thick underarm hair need different settings. Wavelength, pulse length, and energy are set by standards built from over 90,000 documented treatments — so even if your physician changes, the standards stay the same.

The device's measurements set the standard — not feel. The device measures how much each pass overlaps and how warm the surface is getting, and shows both on screen. That's why, when broad areas are covered in many passes, no one has to fill the gaps by feel alone.

The prep room is behind a glass wall, in full view. The prep room has a glass wall, so while you wait, the preparation and hygiene routine is visible from the waiting area. The more sessions a treatment takes, the more it matters that each one is prepared the same way.

We're honest about what to expect. What laser hair removal reaches isn't "not a single hair" — it's a state where growing hair is greatly reduced. Fine vellus hair holds less pigment and can take more sessions, and white hair doesn't respond — limits we state before you start. We don't push same-day payment or session packages.

Pricing

Clarity II women's hair removal cost depends on which areas you treat, how much of them, and the session plan. We look at hair color and thickness together at the consultation, then give you a quote.

Location

PECHE Clinic 3F, 364 Gangnam-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul Right in front of Gangnam Station, Exit 4

With fine hair, the fading builds gradually across sessions, so keeping a steady schedule matters. It's worth considering whether the trip is an easy one for you.

FAQ

Q1. Who performs the treatment? A: PECHE physicians who all work to the same standards, built from over 90,000 documented treatments. Settings come from your hair's condition and skin tone, not from feel — and the device displays the surface temperature in real time during treatment, so even if your physician changes, the treatment stays within the same standards.

Q2. Does it work on hair as fine and faint as facial vellus? A: Fine hair holds less pigment, so the same pass gathers less heat. Clarity II has a setting that fires as short as 1ms, so it can be used on fine hair too — though it can take more sessions than thick hair. White hair, with almost no pigment, has no target and doesn't respond. How well yours will respond is checked at the consultation from its color and thickness.

Q3. My other treatment is already booked — is it too late? A: There's a way even without the 1–2 week lead. When timing is tight, the area is sometimes lightly shaved right before that treatment instead. But shaving only clears surface hair — if you have the time, having the hair removal first is the better order. Tell us at the consultation about any booked treatment and we'll sequence them together.

Q4. How is the number of sessions decided? A: 6–12 sessions at 4–6 week intervals is the general baseline, but what you'll need varies with the area and hair thickness. Rather than bundling a count upfront, we look at the remaining hair each session and set the next interval.

Q5. Can I just have a consultation and decide later? A: Yes. Come in for an area and hair check, hear the expected sessions and the limits, and go home. We don't push same-day payment or session packages at the consultation.
